[glow=black,2,300]Robin Hood[/glow]
"Where would be the fun in that?"
Robin is clever, idealistic, arrogant but selfless, dryly humorous, heroic, undaunted by authority, sometimes outrageously bold but always principled. He continues his fight for justice in an England that is corrupted by greed, crippled by taxes and shattered by poverty.
Robin discovered that the Sheriff of Nottingham was hatching a devastating plot to kill the King of England on his return from the Holy Land, and the future of the country is at stake. Robin and the outlaws travelled to the Holy Land and saved the King but tragically lost Marian when she was murdered by Gisborne. Robin sets out to avenge her death.
Weapon: recurve bow, sword
Played by: Jonas Armstrong
[glow=black,2,300]Tuck[/glow]
Tuck trained as a priest at Fountains Abbey but he became more and more disillusioned with the corruption of church and state and was eventually kicked out for his outspoken views. He travelled as a monk across Europe and his experiences from his travels and his years in the Abbey made him realise that time is running out for England. Something has to be done now to stop the corruption.
An outspoken, passionate character, Tuck's left-field thinking can either be ingenious or make him a liability. He will at times tell Robin his plans, but never ask for his approval. If he thinks his plan is the right one then he will do it. This can annoy Robin, especially as Tuck's plans can go wrong. But Robin can see the value in Tuck - he is strong and wise, an inspiring second in command. His passion for the cause is infectious and binds the outlaws strongly together.
Weapons: Sceptre, poisoned dart
Played by: David Harewood
[glow=black,2,300]Guy Of Gisborne[/glow]
"Position. Power."
Vain, brutal, ambitious, loyal, athletic, single-minded, boastful, frustrated, Gisborne is a selfish bully. As the Sheriff's right hand man, Gisborne is capable of overwhelming cruelty in his ruthless pursuit for heritage and position.
Yet beyond this drive for recognition was the one hope for redemption: Marian. When he realised that Marian would always love Robin above him he took drastic action with tragic consequences for everyone.
Weapon: Sword
Played by: Richard Armitage
[glow=black,2,300]Much[/glow]
"This... is an ambush!"
As Robin's right-hand man, Much is sometimes daft, forever hungry, and forever committed to both Robin and his cause.
As the voice of fear, but also sometimes the voice of reason, Much undercuts Robin's idealism. Much likes orderly living in the outlaws' camp and is usually the chef, complaining that he has to both catch and cook the food. He often makes us laugh and he frequently gets told to shut up!
Weapon: short sword and shield.
Played by: Sam Troughton.
[glow=black,2,300]Allan[/glow]
"Not being funny, but..."
A cheeky chancer, a wide-boy opportunist, Allan will make sure he's got his own escape route sorted before he stops to help you. He has the gift of the gab and the Allan of old would cheat his best friend at cards if there was something in it for him.
Allan's traits can be used to avoid capture, get food to the poor, and make useful contacts. But if skills like that were to fall into the wrong hands, there would be big trouble. After a year in the forest surviving on very little, Allan began to want more than this earnest existence can offer. The temptation of power and money led him astray. Eventually, he rediscovered these values and earned back the respect of the gang. But will it last?
Weapon: Longbow
Played by: Joe Armstrong
[glow=black,2,300]Little John[/glow]
"We ARE Robin Hood!"
Strong, instinctive, practical, resolute, Little John is powerful in battle and knowledgeable about survival in the forest. John has a more simplistic morality than Robin: see a problem, sort it out. So John would choose to feed the poor on his doorstep before addressing a national threat. John has an authority that the other members of the gang respect.
Whilst often a man of few words, underneath the brute strength, Little John hides a big heart - but will it be strong enough to overcome the challenges that lie ahead?
Weapon: staff
Played by: Gordon Kennedy
[glow=black,2,300]The Sheriff's[/glow]
"Oh, lah-di-dah!"
A ruthless, greedy, witty, determined, paranoid, driven, cruel, calculating, politically-minded, insecure, devious, intelligent, highly-strung strategist.
The Sheriff's an ambitious, cunning, paranoid man who needs to be feared by his people. Severe taxes and punishments keep order in his lands, along with his right-hand man, Gisborne, and that's how he likes it while he concentrates on more pressing matters, like plotting with Prince John.
For the Sheriff, rule over Nottingham has never been enough. In collusion with Prince John and a cabinet of conspirators - the 'Black Knights' - he planned to overthrow King Richard, put Prince John on the throne and divide up the 'new England' but he failed.
The Sheriff is now under pressure from Prince John for his failure to assassinate King Richard - unless he delivers a dead Robin Hood, he's finished.
Weapon: Guy of Gisborne
Played by: Keith Allen
[glow=black,2,300]Isabella[/glow]
Isabella is Gisborne's younger sister. When Guy and Isabella were young, the Gisborne family lost their lands and wealth in England and moved to France. Unbeknown to Isabella, Guy decided to sell her into marriage to a rich English Squire to fund his own political career. But her husband was cruel and abusive and, having heard of Guy's rising status in Nottingham, she seeks out her brother's protection. She discovers the truth about her arranged marriage and resolves to make her brother pay. She is determined to make him beg for her forgiveness believing that only then will she truly be able to let go of the pain of her past and embrace her future.
Played by: Lara Pulver
[glow=black,2,300]Prince John[/glow]
"Do you love me?"
Prince John is a young, ambitious, vibrant leader who will obliterate anything that stands between himself and his quest for the throne. John demands love and respect from all his subjects and will readily test these at every opportunity. He is ruthless and deadly in pursuit of his goals. Whereas the Sheriff is always calculating his next move, Prince John is often unpredictable which makes him all the more terrifying. John is a vain and egocentric leader. He is consumed with a desire to be loved by all and recognises that as King he could demand total adoration. When he realises the people love Robin more than him he is determined to obliterate the myth.
Played by: Toby Stephens
[glow=black,2,300]Kate[/glow]
"I was doing fine on my own"
Kate is practical and skilled. Since a child she has helped her mother run their family pottery business in Loxley. She'll always speak her mind, which often gets her into trouble. She's impulsive and impassioned, very much a 'do now, think later' kind of girl. Her priorities are clear; she must free her village from the tyranny of the Sheriff and Guy and only then will she be able to lead the simple life she desires. Kate knows how to be one of the lads but she's a bit of a romantic at heart and she's got her sights set on Robin.
Weapon: Her imagination
Played by: Joanne Froggatt
[glow=black,2,300]Archer[/glow]
Archer has a distinctive arrow shaped birthmark on his stomach that gave him his name. He is a man who can sort anyone out with any weapon if the price is right. He has always kept his ear to the ground for whispers of new technologies, exotic arms and dangerous developments. Before meeting Robin and the Outlaws, Archer had no allegiance to England or any other country. He was only interested in self-preservation and made his living on the margins.
He has always been an excellent fighter but never before has he had a meaningful reason to fight. The mistreatment of the vulnerable riles him but in the past he would weigh up the odds of success before wading in. Only now is Archer starting to realise that it’s better to try and fail than to not to fight at all.
Weapon: Master of all weapons with a preference for the long bow, a short samurai sword, a throw star and flying kicks
Played by: Clive Standen
Lady Marian, is the daughter of the former Sheriff of Nottingham, is 21 years. At first Robin disapprove the actions of the rogue, because he believes the best way to fight injustice is to work within the system. However, aid in their fight against the Sheriff are rare, as spy for Robin, and this gives the information from inside the castle of the Sheriff and Gisborne. Marian also fights the Sheriff in his own right, disguised as a night watchman on the poor and gives food and supplies. Though still madly in love with Robin is angry for having left and that gets her in a compromise, Gisborne, Marian's father used as an excuse, does she agree to marry him and smashes it to Robin.
